Born and raised in a humble Indian household, I possess an inclination towards art, nature, simplicity and innovation. With an engineering degree from BITS Pilani and an MBA from IIM Bangalore, India, my journey has been shaped by diverse roles in esteemed companies such as Citibank, Oracle, Snapdeal, and Amazon over the span of 11 enriching years. However, my greatest inspiration comes from being a mother to a vibrant six-year-old.
Like every mother, I too wanted to provide the best for my child’s development. However, despite my efforts to select the perfect toys, I noticed three recurring patterns. My little one would quickly lose interest in toys, everything found its way into his mouth, and he had an insatiable curiosity for kitchen textures.
Through extensive research, I uncovered the profound science behind sensory play. It became evident that my son’s behaviors weren’t random but stemmed from his inherent drive to explore and learn. Sensory play, with its vivid colors, varied textures, and captivating sounds, sparked his senses and ignited his curiosity.
More than just fun, sensory play is essential for child’s brain development, as it facilitates the formation of neural connections through the engagement of multiple senses. Additionally, sensory play plays a crucial role in regulating kid’s emotions, impacting holistic child development.
This realization ignited my passion for crafting meaningful play experiences, initially for my child, but soon extended to other parents who saw our creations on Instagram and sought them out. Recognizing the gap in the market and the need of many parents, I made the bold decision to leave my role at Amazon and establish Lattooland.
